Slide the radio out and unplug the top left connector. slide panel out and remove electrical connectors. Remove the 4 screws holding the HEVAC control panel. grip the cover near the cubby box end, pull up and out. Remove the 2 screws holding the r/h side trans tunnel cover. unclip the two connectors on cig lighter. Tilt the trans trim surround up from the rear and gently remove. Put the transmission in 1 and remove the grub screw holding the shift lever in place. Lift the window switch pack up and back enough to expose the screw holding the transmission trim surround in place. Wriggle the hand brake grip to move it up the handbrake shaft 5-10cm Open the cubby box lid and remove the two screws holding the window switch pack in place. You will need to remove the HEVAC control unit: The rubber trim strip around the radio comes out pretty easily with some gentle persuasion (not in photo). Push the sticks in to the slots to depress the catches and the radio will slide out. I found a dust plate from an old computer and cut it in half. To pop out the radio you will need some rigid metal sticks approx 1mm deep and 5mm wide. Ordered one of these from the UK at the beginning of the year and only just got around to putting it in to the black 2000 P38 (Rosie the Rangie) with Alpine head unit.
